A woman after my own heart!

I just found this article on the Mail Online, which is also where I borrowed the picture, and I am so impressed!

Maria DAntuono

Guess what this wee 98-year-old lady was doing whilst trapped under rubble in the aftermath of the horrendous earthquake in L’Aquila in Italy? Of course, she was CROCHETING! I love her, what a woman – and what a happy tale of survival!

Save the Children (I know, not the most apt charity considering the above) is collecting money for the survivors. Give them a click. :)

I know, it's gorgeous, isn't it? My husband laughed when I told him about it. He'd heard it already and thought of me. :)

I love her, too! And I must say your knitting is inspiring. I've been meaning to learn since... forever! One of these days I'm going to have to find a Chinese Auntie who will teach me!

Very resourceful! I always carry my knitting bag for just an event, heh. One never knows when the opportunity might present itself :o)

What a sweet story and a very courageous woman. I'll bet the crocheting kept her mind occupied while she waited to be rescued.
